GNU/Linux User Group - Meerut invites your participation for software freedom

Sir/Madam,
As you are aware that GNU/Linux computing culture is the de facto standard of the software world, the free/open source community of the world uses city level 'User Groups' as a platform to meet, discuss and innovate with other GNU/Linux software users and developers.
GNU/Linux philosophy of public domain software (GNU/Linux distribustion having Linux kernel and a variety of tools, utilities and packages) provides the user with an excellent academic and research opportunity. GNU software are released under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and provide benefits of open standards and their compliance, increased reliability, security and cost-effectiveness.
 
Every ALIVE city of the world has a GNU/Linux User Group(GLUG). GLUG-Meerut is the first gnu.org registered GLUG of entire UP and only the nineteenth one in India. We are associated with various GNU/Linux community enthusiasts of India including ILUG-Delhi, CDAC-NOIDA and National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software (NRCFOSS),Chennai.
 
The efforts of GLUG-Meerut have been appreciated by Dr. Richard Stallman (the founder of 'Software Freedom Movement' from MIT, USA) as "Happy Hacking and thanks for defending the freedom in Meerut" at JNU, New Delhi on 21-12-2008. GLUG-Meerut has invited Dr. Stallman for a visit to Meerut - "The City of Freedom" - the city of 1857 war of Indian Independence which laid the seeds of the rising Indian self reliance culminating into modern Indian nation.
 
Please note that We are NOT a profit making organization involved in making business out of the need of students and fellow professionals. We are a computing culture society which binds the innovative minds together. We aim to inculcate the spirit of innovation with cooperation as per the ethics of ‘Software Freedom Movement’ among the students and professionals of the city and beyond.
We intend to organize various student and professional workshops, seminars and conferences for proliferation of GNU/Linux philosophy of software freedom all over the western UP region and beyond. We successfully organized our first software workshop 'Free as in Freedom' from 4th-9th August 2008 for engineering faculty members.
